itel S16 Goes Official: Low-end Android Go Smartphone for African market


Chinese brand Itel has officially launched its new smartphone for the African market – itel S16. It is an entry level device and continue to read for its specifications as well as price.

itel S16 is expected to launch in the Asian and African markets for the price of about USD 70. There are three different colors to choose from. Head to your local stores that carry itel brand to check on the availability of this device.

On the front, itel S16 has a 6.5-inches IPS display with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution. On the back, it has triple camera setup – 8MP main sensor, 2MP macro sensor and 2MP depth sensor. The front facing camera is an 8MP f/2.2 sensor that located on the middle of water-notch display. Apart from the camera bumps, the fingerprint sensor is also embedded on the rear panel.

Under the hood, itel S16 is powered by 4-core Unisoc SC7731E processor and ARM Mali T820 MP1. Just in case you are not familiar with Unisoc, it is actually formerly known as Spreadtrum before merged with RDA Microelectronics in 2018. The RAM memory is 1GB pairs with 16B of storage. The storage can be expanded further with a micro SD up to 32GB.

This low-end smartphone is runs on Android Go Edition that for low end smartphone as Google claims that low end device will not suffer lag. Other features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3.5mm audio jack are equipped in this device too. The dimensions are measure at 166.0 x 75.9 x 8.3 mm. The battery within the device is a decent 4,000mAh non-removable.

Since this is a low-end smartphone, it only compatible with GSM and 3G networks. The colors available are Ice Crystal Blue, Cosmic Shine, and Dazzle Black.
